Living in Thailand Photographs by Luca Invernizzi Tettoni Text by William Warren
| Thai style, so vividly revealed in its architecture and interiors, is the product of a distinctive landscape, blending varied influences and a history unique among the peoples of Southeast Asia. It is a style that can be found in country houses, royal palaces, chic private homes and even unmistakably contemporary interiors where new and old sit comfortably side by side.
In this exceptional book, more than 340 colour photographs by acclaimed photographer Luca Invernizzi Tettoni present a vision of Thailand’s distinctive style.
William Warren introduces the photographs, placing Thai design in context and explaining the background to the subject depicted – Thai Forms; Traditions; Traditions Adapted; Foreign Influences; and Hotels and Resorts. A special Architectural Notebook section provides useful scale drawings of architectural details. Together, words and pictures distil the essence of this fascinating and beautiful country.
Luca Invernizzi Tettoni has spent nearly half his life in Asia. During the 1980s, his strong interest in Thailand resulted in the publication of groundbreaking books on the country, including The Arts of Thailand and, with William Warren, Arts and Crafts of Thailand, The Tropical Garden and Tropical Garden Plants.
William Warren is the author of many books on Thailand, including Legendary Thailand, Bangkok’s Waterways: An Explorer’s Handbook and Arts and Crafts of Thailand, the last of these is also published by Thames & Hudson.
