A Lifelong Interest

Conversations on Art and Science

E.H. Gombrich
Didier Eribon

Known worldwide as the author of The Story of Art, Sir Ernst Gombrich, OM, CBE, FBA and Professor Emeritus of the University of London, was also one of the world's most respected scholars and academics.

In a series of conversations with the French writer Didier Eribon, Gombrich discusses his upbringing in Vienna and the genesis of his ideas on art, science and the mind that he developed after his emigration to England. As well as being a prolific writer, Gombrich was also Director of the Warburg Institute, where he was able to explore further the relationships between history, art, philosophy and psychology.

Brilliant, wide-ranging and stimulating, this is not only an overview of his life's work, but also a fascinating glimpse of a great mind at work.
